Associate Professor Ir Ts. Dr Mohamad Hafiz Mamat | School of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering
Dr Hafiz is an associate professor in the School of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering, and head of the NANO-ElecTronic (NET) Research Group. His research group specialises in nanoelectronics and nanotechnology, with a particular emphasis on the synthesis of metal and semiconductor nanomaterials and the fabrication of nanodevices. In 2005, he received his bachelor's degree from Nagoya University, and in 2010 and 2013, he received his master's and PhD from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Previously, from 2005 to 2007, he worked as an engineer at Perodua Manufacturing Sdn. Bhd. before pursuing his Master's and PhD studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UiTM under the Tenaga Pengajar Muda (TPM) Scholarship. He began his career at UiTM in April 2013 as a senior lecturer and was promoted to associate professor in September 2019. He was awarded the prestigious ASEAN-India Research and Training Fellowship in 2018. He took a six-month leave of absence to conduct research at the BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, India.
He has worked with eight graduate PhD students and four graduate Master's students. During the UiTM Convocations, three of his graduate PhD students received the Royal Chancellors' Excellence Doctoral Award and the Excellent Research Award. He currently supervises eight PhD students and four Master's students. As the principal investigator, he received ten national and internal research grants. He has over 370 Scopus-indexed publications in journals and conference proceedings to his credit. Furthermore, he has received numerous awards in invention and innovation competitions, including The Grand Award, Diamond Award, and Gold Medal at IIDEX 2015 and IIDEX2019, The Best Award and Gold Medal at MTE2014 and 2019, The Gold Medal at PECIPTA 2019, MTE2020, ITEX2020, iCAN (Canada) 2021, and many more. He has also received the Malaysian Solid-State Science and Technology Society (MASS) 2014 Award for Most Promising Researcher Award, UiTM's Excellent Service Award in 2015 and 2020, UiTM's Most Promising Academician Award in 2016, UiTM's Best Supervisor Award in 2018, UiTM's Top Researcher 2020 (Top 10 Publication Scopus/WoS and Top 10 Highest Citation), Top 1 percent of Reviewers 2019 in PubMed, and Top 1 percent of Reviewers 2020
