Hutan Simpan Lembah Benum Exploration
31 Mac – 1 April, Jerantut Pahang.
Researchers from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) participated in exploration to Mukim Ulu Cheka, Jerantut, Pahang. The program called “Eksplorasi Hutan Simpan Lembah Benum” aims to identify locations in Benum Valley that can be potentially used for studies in biodiversity areas by students and lecturers from the UiTM Pahang campus. Additionally, the collaboration will further enhance the relationship with the local communities through conducting corporate social responsibilities (CSR) activities.
The exploration was attended by UiTM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nazip bin Suratman, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Abdul Latif, who is the Director of Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development (IBSD), and fellow researchers from UiTM Pahang.

Those also in attendance were Mr. Khairul Akhma Yusof, Penghulu of Mukim Hulu Cheka, Mr. Nazri Che Husin, who is Tok Empat Ulu Cheka, Mr. Razali Isa, Village Chief of Kampung Koi, Mr. Yusof Lang Buana, Nature Guide and Chairman of Birding & Wildlife Association and Mr. Rafiz Azuan Ahmad, who is Village Chief of Kampung Som in Mukim Hulu Cheka.
The discussion that took placed between UiTM and representatives from Mukim Ulu Cheka provided a platform for a strategic collaboration towards empowering networking activities and sustainability in the university as well as the community through biodiversity conservation, which can include establishing a research center in Benum Valley.
